Audition Information 2026-2027

Auditions are required for placement in Camerata (Grades 9-12). You will prepare a scale, an excerpt, and complete a sight reading.

No audition is required for Concert Orchestra (Grades 9-12).

Audition Materials can be downloaded below. Please download the audition excerpts for your chosen instrument.

Auditions for the upcoming school year will be in-person.

Plan to arrive early so that you have time to warm-up and practice.

Placement results will be posted and sent to middle school directors in February.

Please Note:

Audition placement will be made based on the quality of the student’s performance and do not guarantee placement in Camerata.

#1 - Scale Requirements

Prepare both scales. Students will be given their scale during their audition.

  • A Major OR G Melodic Minor

  • D Major OR C Melodic Minor

  • F Major OR E Melodic Minor

#2 - Excerpts — Choose ONE Excerpt

Prepare the measures labeled within the brackets on the corresponding excerpts.

#3 - Sight Reading

A brief sight reading excerpt will be given following the standard sight-reading procedures. Students can practice this skill at home using Sight Reading Factory.
